Getting started
A bike on a smart trainer, and a phone or tablet. AnyMap reads your power from the trainer and sets the resistance for every climb. A heart rate strap is a nice extra, but you do not need one.
iPhone, iPad and Android phones and tablets. A Mac app comes later. AnyMap does not run on Apple TV.
Turn on your trainer and pedal a few strokes to wake it up. In AnyMap, tap your trainer on CONNECT YOUR TRAINER, then START RIDE. Pick a route and tap START RIDING. No trainer at hand? START WITHOUT TRAINER lets you look around.
No. As a guest, you ride at once, and your rides stay on your phone. Sign in with your email to keep them safe, to use them on more than one device, to chat, to connect Strava and to add your own routes.
02
Trainers and devices
Any trainer that speaks Bluetooth FTMS, the open standard most smart trainers of the last years use. That includes the Wahoo KICKR and KICKR CORE, the Tacx Neo and Flux, the Elite Suito and Direto and the Saris H3. We test with the Wahoo KICKR CORE. AnyMap does not use ANT+.
Turn the trainer on and pedal a few strokes to wake it up. Tap SCAN FOR DEVICES, then tap your trainer: it shows TRAINER · CONNECTED. Later you find your devices in SETTINGS > DEVICES. AnyMap connects to them by itself next time. To remove one, hold it.
Pedal a few strokes: many trainers sleep until they move. Allow Bluetooth for AnyMap in your phone's settings. Close other apps that use the trainer, like the maker's app or Zwift: most trainers take one app at a time. Update the trainer's firmware in the maker's app, as older trainers learn FTMS that way. Power meters, speed sensors and trainers without Bluetooth control do not work with AnyMap.
AnyMap looks for it for a minute, and then searches again by itself. Keep your phone close to the trainer, and keep other Bluetooth devices away. If it happens often, update the trainer's firmware in the maker's app.
A Bluetooth heart rate strap, yes: connect it as you connect the trainer. AnyMap asks for your consent first, as heart rate is health data. A power meter on your bike, not yet: AnyMap reads the power from your trainer.
Yes. With a Zwift Cog, AnyMap's 24 virtual gears do the shifting. Zwift Click shifts them from your handlebar: plus or A shifts up, minus or Z shifts down. In ERG and workouts, they add or take off 5 watts, and Y and B 25 watts. AnyMap finds both over Bluetooth by itself.
Change how much of the road's grade your trainer gives you in SETTINGS > TRAINER > DIFFICULTY: 25 % GENTLE, 50 % BALANCED, 75 % STEEP or 100 % REAL ROAD. In ERG mode and in workouts, the trainer holds the watts you set, whatever the road.
AnyMap shows the power your trainer measures. Calibrate the trainer (a spindown) in the maker's app, then ride again. A sudden big jump in your FTP after a normal ride often means the trainer needs it.

Your account
In SETTINGS, tap SIGN IN OR MAKE AN ACCOUNT. Type your email and tap SEND CODE. We email you a 6-digit code; it works for 10 minutes. There is no password. Your first sign-in makes your account.
Wait a minute, and look in your spam folder: the code comes from login@anymap.bike. Check the address with USE ANOTHER EMAIL, or tap SEND A NEW CODE.
Your first sign-in makes your account and takes your rides and workouts with it. From then on, they sync to every phone you sign in on.
Your name, color, picture, bio, country and links, yes: tap your account card in SETTINGS, or EDIT PROFILE on your profile. Your email, not yet: write to us, and we help.
Your rides stay in your account. The phone forgets them and starts over as a guest. If some changes have not synced yet, AnyMap tells you before they are lost.
In SETTINGS, tap DELETE ACCOUNT and type DELETE. This deletes your account, rides and workouts on every phone, for good. A subscription from the App Store or Google Play does not stop with it: cancel it there. A subscription from our website ends with it.
05
Routes
Every road on Earth. AnyMap builds its 3D world from real map data. Ride one of our routes, like the famous climbs, race tracks and cities, or draw your own.
On the RIDE tab, tap the plus. Tap points on the map, and the route follows the roads between them; search for a place in the card below. Fix it with UNDO, by dragging a point, or with REMOVE. Tap the start to close a loop. Tap DONE, give it a name, and tap BUILD THE ROUTE. You need an account. Drawing is free; your first route builds for free too.
Yes. When you add a route, tap FROM A FILE and choose a GPX, TCX, KML or KMZ file: from Strava, Komoot, Garmin Connect, RideWithGPS, Google My Maps or Google Earth. Export a Strava route on strava.com; the phone app cannot. FIT files do not work yet.
A minute or two, sometimes more when many riders build at once. If it says NOT BUILT, try again a little later, or write to us.
Everyone, unless you switch on PRIVATE when you add it: then only you can ride it.
06
Workouts and FTP
FTP is the power you can hold for about an hour. Workouts and programs use it to set your watts. Find it with the RAMP TEST (it gets harder each minute until you stop; your FTP is 75 % of your best minute) or the 20-MIN FTP TEST (95 % of your best 20 minutes). Both are free.
AnyMap keeps your FTP up to date from your rides. A small rise is set at once, with UNDO. A big jump after a normal ride is only offered, as it may come from a trainer that needs calibration. A lower result is offered, never set.
In ERG mode, your trainer holds the watts you set, however fast you pedal. Change them by 5 or 25 watts with one tap. Workouts ride in ERG mode.
Yes, in the workout builder: blocks, ramps and intervals, in watts or in percent of your FTP. Saving a workout needs Premium.
Plans of several weeks for one goal, like FIT IN FOUR, BACK TO FITNESS, STEP UP or GRAN FONDO READY. The first rides of every program are free.
07
Racing
Every 15 minutes, on the quarter hour, all day. A race takes 20 to 35 minutes. Racing needs Premium.
Open the race page, pick a race and tap JOIN RACE before it starts; a countdown takes you to the start. Tap REMIND ME for a race later. Once a race has started, you cannot join it.
Ride close behind another rider, and you save up to 45 % of the drag, as on the road. Everyone drafts everyone; the draft bar shows how much you save.
Official races give points for the KOMs, the sprints and the finish. Your points show on your profile. Races riders make themselves give no points.
Yes, with Premium: tap the plus on the race page, choose the route, the laps, the start and pacers, and tap CREATE RACE.
08
Strava
Sign in, then go to SETTINGS > STRAVA. With AUTO UPLOAD on, each ride goes to Strava as it ends. With it off, tap UPLOAD TO STRAVA on a ride's page.
Rides on a route go up as virtual rides, so they stay off the real segments outdoors. Workouts and ERG rides go up as indoor rides. Each comes with your power, heart rate and cadence.
In SETTINGS > STRAVA, tap DISCONNECT STRAVA. New rides no longer go to Strava. The rides already there stay.
09
Privacy and safety
Your name, color, picture, bio, country, links and since when you ride. You choose in your profile whether they see your rider type, races, activities and stories. Nobody sees your email, FTP, weight, power curve or heart rate.
AnyMap shows it while you ride and keeps it with your rides, but only with your consent. Other riders never see it. Take your consent back at any time in SETTINGS > HEART RATE DATA.
Hold the message to report it or to mute the rider. A message that three riders report disappears. Stories have REPORT and MUTE too.
Yes. Write to hello@anymap.bike from the email of your account, and we send it to you.
