hello@anymap.bike- The story
Step 01
Cycling since I was a kid
I have ridden a bike for as long as I can remember. Over the last six years I took it more seriously: cycling became my cardio, next to my strength training.
I mostly ride second-hand road bikes through the city. I love being out in nature, exploring new places, pushing myself, and seeing my fitness grow.
Step 02
Going indoors
A few months ago I started to ride indoors. Because of bad roads and traffic, and because I wanted structured workouts that I can plan and track with ease.
And, did I mention it? Because of bad roads and cars.
Step 03
Trying Zwift
I loved Zwift at first. But soon its setup annoyed me. It took far too long to just hop on the bike for a quick ride. And I did not like its design, or the way you find your way through the app.
Step 04
The problems
Riding outside can hurt you. I crashed once and broke my arm. It happened while I wrote my bachelor thesis, and I work as a software developer: for weeks I could not type. My thesis and my job both got hard.
Then there are the cars. Once a driver took my right of way, and I crashed into the car. There are bad roads and bumps everywhere, too. My bike always needed a repair, and bikes are expensive.
Step 05
What I want from a ride
I want to get fitter, and I want to see it in numbers. I ride structured workouts. I want to measure my power exactly. And I want to race: to compare myself with others and see where I stand.
Indoors I get all of that, without the cars and the repairs.
Step 06
Why I built AnyMap
I wanted to ride every road in the world. To explore new places, and to measure myself against the pros on the famous climbs. All from the safety of my home, after a long day of work on my business.
And I built it the way I wanted it. Clear, fast and simple: you hop on and ride in a minute. I care about a great app experience, and every screen got that care. And you ride the real world, not a made-up one.
Step 07
What AnyMap is
- Every road on Earth, in 3D
- Famous climbs, race tracks and cities, ready to ride
- 200+ workouts and 8 training programs
- Guided FTP tests, and an FTP that stays up to date
- A race every hour, with real drafting
- Every ride saved: power, heart rate, power curve
My mission
Make it hurt good.
I love endurance sport at its most brutal. Legs on fire, lungs gone, nothing left at the top of the climb.
That might not sound like fun. But trust me: ride one truly horrible workout, and an hour later you feel better than you have all week. After that, your only problem is that you can't get enough.
See you on AnyMap. I might even let you sit on my wheel. ;)
